At the dawn of Spring this year, Luxeat had the pleasure of hosting a unique, insider’s tour of the world-renowned Côte d’Or region of Burgundy, France. It was a chance to sit at the same table with some of the best vigneron’s in France, discover the region, be guided by experts and feast like Burgundian nobility over three magical days.
In keeping with Luxeat’s passion for Japanese excellence, the tour featured an Omakase dinner on the Friday evening, prepared by Sushi Master Tiago Cardoso di Silva, who came from Paris for the occasion. The feast featured high-end Sushi courses accompanied by aged white Burgundies in magnum from the three great Clos Monopole vineyards in Puligny Montrachet of Domaine Jean Chartron and wines of Domaine Heitz Lochardet, including Armand Heitz’s refined white wines from Meursault, Chassagne Montrachet and Saint Aubin. The Wagyu beef and other savoury courses, were completed by the refined and pure red Burgundies from Vosne Romanée & Nuits Saint Georges served directly from the prestigious cellar of Domaine Thibault Liger Belair.
On Saturday evening, a Burgundian banquet and Paulee were held at Chateau de Charodon, featuring the biodynamic wines of Louis Vallet. Live music was performed during the dinner and the Paulee—a true Burgundian tradition had Luxeat guests invited to bring, share, discuss and discover their own favourite Burgundy wines—created a warm, festive atmosphere.
Three fine Burgundian restaurant meals with specially selected Luxeat menus and Burgundian vignerons with their fine wines in attendance. The featured restaurants included:
La Ferme de la Ruchottes in Bligny Sur Ouches, run by the star rebel chef Fred Menager, with wines from Hubert L’Estime of Domaine Jean-Noel Gagnard in Chassagne Montrachet;
La Table d’Hôte, run by Lucie and Thomas Collomb, with wines presented by Nadine Gublin of Jacques Prieur in Meursault and Anne Parent of Domaine Parent in Pommard;
and L’Agastache restaurant in Volnay, run by Nunzio and Caroline, with wines from Mark Fincham of Domaine Tawse in Beaune and Maison Marchand Tawse in Nuits Saint Georges.
The tour was co-hosted by Aiste and Burgundy & Piedmont wine-connoisseur and expert of the region, Greg Love. Love guided guests through…
…a walking tour of the wineries and vineyards from Vosne Romanée to Chambolle Musigny to stretch their legs and breathe in the misty landscapes of the region;
…a tour of the Grand Cru vineyards of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet,
…a tutored tasting of the excellent jams and confits of Vignes and Vergers in Chassagne Montrachet,
…and a foodie’s tour of Beaune Market on Saturday morning allowed the group multiple perspectives of the region’s gastronomy.
The event was an unparalleled opportunity to sit at the same table in Burgundy with some of the best vigneron’s in the world, ask them about their lives and wines and offered an unparalleled opportunity to explore, meet and taste in this oenophile’s paradise.
