Below are the images from my lunch at the newly opened La Grande Maison by Joël Robuchon in Bordeaux. It is located in a stunning house turned boutique hotel, which is owned by French wine magnate Bernard Magrez. For years, I’ve been a big fan of “l’ateliers” by Joël Robuchon around the world. The chef le plus étoilé au monde has in his own way democratized the high-end gastronomy and made it less stiff and more approachable. However now, with this latest opening, he is coming back to the theatrical roots of the fine dining and to be honest, I am not sure if it’s working. I had the big tasting menu and there was nothing wrong with it, but nothing too memorable neither.
La Grande Maison restaurant is worth a visit if you are already in the city or the region, but it is not a big upgrade to the cooking you can find at L’Atelier in Paris or elsewhere… At least not yet.
